This month, Startup Grind is celebrating female entrepreneurs with several events throughout the month. WeLink is very excited to support their event in Shenzhen on May 28th, 2016. The speaker Tian Zhou, co-founder of Blink, will be sharing her experience of starting up her company as well as advice she has for other female entrepreneurs who are considering similar endeavors. Here are 3 reasons that we are excited for the event and you should be too!
1. The speaker is a unique and inspiring woman: Tian Zhou formerly worked in finance before co-founding her own boutique hardware startup called “Blink”. At the event she will share her experience of leaving a glamorous banking job and starting up in the complex hardware industry. Grace Zhang, the Startup Grind organizer of the event, described her as “the whole package” and “super intriguing”. WeLink is very excited to hear more about her unique story and learn from her on how to fit an entrepreneurial pursuit in larger career plans.
2. The event is infusing energy and diversity into the Shenzhen entrepreneurship scene: Startup Grind is a global startup community that dedicates itself to “educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs”. Through their events across 50 cities and 20 countries, they create a link between founders, innovators, educators, and investors. WeLink supports Startup Grind because through events like the female entrepreneurship month, the organization is also infusing energy and diversity into the Shenzhen entrepreneurship landscape. The organizer put it best when she said that the event aims to host open discourse and provide a friendly environment to identify the problems and "take baby steps" towards the solution, and WeLink wholeheartedly supports Startup Grind in this endeavor towards creating an even better environment for female entrepreneurs.
3. The supporting organizations all support female entrepreneurs in different yet synergetic ways: The many supporting organizations (detailed in link listed below) such as LeanIn Shenzhen, Lady 1st, Simply Work, 我是海归app, in addition to WeLink are all organizations that are committed to supporting female entrepreneurship in Shenzhen in our own ways. We are thankful to Startup Grind for the opportunity to work alongside these amazing organizations in support of this event.
